Humphrey Ogu Wins Capt Elechi Amadi's Prize For Literature.

The end-of-the-year party of the association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Rivers Chapter held today at the serene compound of the British Council in Port Harcourt.

The program featured the award of Capt Elechi Amadi's Prizes for literature (which were instituted in celebration of the octogenarian's birthday) in the genres of poetry, fiction and children books.

The beautiful collection of poems, Echoes of Neglect, written by Mr Humphrey Ogu, the PRO of Rivers ANA won the prize in poetry genre while Mazi Njoku's Unwanted won in the prose category.

Also at the program, two honorary members of the association were inducted.

Recall that ANA was founded by Nigeria foremost creative mind, Chinua Achebe in the 80's. The Rivers chapter was however founded in 1992 by the late Ken Saro Wiwa and has been among the most vibrant chapters in Nigeria ever since then.
